Music Technology Labs and Facilities

Summit Studio

The Summit studio is open to all students after an initial orientation session. It has recently been updated with a spacious whisper room for recording purposes and provides space for video authoring capabilities as well. A partial listing of equipment includes a dual processor G4, 36GB of storage space, Motormix fading controller, Mackie CR1604 analog console, two Lexicon effects processors, K2500S keyboard/sampler, MIDI patchbay, and DVD/CD recording drives.

 

Graduate Audio Media Lab

Located in the basement of the Music Administration building, the "ratlab" is a workspace for graduate students offering several Macintosh computers hosting a suite of multimedia applications. The lab was recently renovated with a 5-channel speaker system and a slew of audio and MIDI peripherals.

 

Kresge Animate Arts Center

Located in the center of campus in the Kresge building, this lab is open to all students and provides access to multimedia equipment such as scanners, cd-burners, sound effects libraries, and sound and music editing software. The lab has an ample amount of both Macintosh G5 and PC workstations.

 

Electronic Music Studios

Professor Stephen Syverud maintains two electronic music studios on the fifth floor of the Music Administration Building, which are outfitted for multichannel tape recording, MIDI production, and voltage-controlled analog synthesis.
