Brief Bio
Gary Kendall is Associate Professor of Music Technology at Northwestern University. He serves both as Coordinator of the Music Technology Program and Co-Director of the Program in Sound Design. As a researcher, especially in 3D sound and spatial audio, he has contributed to the Computer Music Journal, Proceedings of the ICMC, and has presented to the Audio Engineering Society and the Acoustical Society of American. His research in 3D sound led him to help produce the first use of 3D sound in broadcast television. As a composer, his most recent creative work centers on spatial audio in sound installations and concert work with multiple loudspeakers. His composition, Qosqo, was recently performed at SEAMUS 2006. This music is also strongly influenced by his experience as an energetic/spiritual healer. His spiritual studies have been guided by several Peruvian teachers and with the well-known American healer, Amorah Quan Yin.
